Border Management Committees (BMCs)

At the Ports of Entry and Exit, Border Management Committees (BMCs) have been established to coordinate the joint functions performed by the various agencies operating at these locations.

The BMC structure leadership entails:

  • Land borders:
    • KRA - Chair,
    • Immigration- Deputy Chair
  • Airports:
    • KAA - Chair,
    • Immigration- Deputy Chair
  • Seaports:
    • KPA – Chair,
    • KRA- Deputy Chair
  • Secretary to the BMCs in all the 3 border environments – NIS
  • Sub-County Security Teams are coopted members of BMCS

FUNCTIONS

The functions of the Border Management Committees (BMCs) are as follows:

  • Coordinate border operations at Ports of Entry/Exit (PoEs).
  • Implement BCOCC directives at PoEs.
  • Hold meetings and submit minutes to the Border Management Secretariat (BMS).
  • Engage in regular consultations with the BMS on PoE-related matters.
